How Intermittent Fasting Helps Me Save My Child’s Life

I’m Alisa, a mother of three. My youngest kid, Mia, is now 8 years old. No one knows how happy I am now when I see her being active and healthy. After all, all that couldn’t even be imagined three years ago.

When Mia was 4, she was diagnosed with a serious disease called biliary atresia, which can lead to liver failure and other dire complications if it was kept unchecked or untreated. Luckily, a solution was figured out by Mia’s doctor a liver transplant will work.

I didn’t think twice when I was confirmed to be a perfect match for my daughter. That’s my daughter’s life. I felt so lucky that I could save her life.

However, things didn’t go smoothly as expected. The series of checkups indicated that I had suffered from serious fatty liver. That means I can’t donate a “problematic” liver to my daughter.

I didn’t realize my own health issue until that moment when I was told I couldn’t donate my liver to my daughter. Looking back on my daily life, all details contribute to my health problems. Stressful eating, irregular diet, single food intake…

“You can donate your liver unless you have a healthy one.” a suggestion from the doctor seemed to give me hope.

But how to make it a healthy one?

Weight loss is still the best way to fight against fatty liver.” I never felt so encouraged to drop pounds ASAP.

Then, I began intermittent fasting for weight loss. I picked intermittent fasting because:

After about 5 months of intermittent fasting, my checkup indicated my liver is OK with a transplant. Then, after 13 hours of operation, I successfully donated part of my liver to Mia. Up to now, Mia has regained her happiness as any other kid.

Meanwhile, I also feel great after intermittent fasting. I’ve dropped 25 pounds and felt energetic though weight loss isn’t my impetus to start fasting. Intermittent fasting has not only saved me but saved my daughter’s life.

In the process, I also use the SoonFasting app to help me customize my intermittent fasting schedule and remind me to start fasting in time. Moreover, the coach from SoonFasting also provides me with useful suggestions based on my own situation. The app shortens the time length of my liver recovery and helps me save my daughter in time.

I never thought my daughter’s life (or even my family’s) could be saved via intermittent fasting. I’m the perfect match for Mia and intermittent fasting is the perfect match for me!
